At Mighty Leaf, we're passionate about whole leaf tea. Since our founders first opened their original San Francisco tea house, called Tea & Company, in 1996, it has been our goal to share the whole leaf tea experience with tea enthusiasts around the world. Our teas showcase larger, bolder tea leaves that are never broken, torn, or crushed, giving you a complex, nuanced taste that you can’t find anywhere else. Why Whole Leaf
Certain things are better as nature presents them, and tea is no exception Conventional tea bags often contain low-grade tea or fannings: minuscule specks of leaf which are little more than tea dust. Most of the character and flavor of tea is lost in this form. Here at Mighty Leaf Tea, we pride ourselves on using only the highest quality whole leaf teas, left in their natural, full form. Our Blending Process
Our tea team, led by Tea Master Eliot Jordan, sources the highest quality whole leaf tea leaves, fruits, herbs, and spices from around the world to create our one-of-a-kind blends.
Once selected, each and every ingredient is brought to our California headquarters where it goes through intensive flavor testing and quality assurance. Eliot and his tea team become familiar with each ingredient separately – each tea, blossom, fruit or herb - before the blending process begins.
Creating a new blend is an art. There are no recipes. Eliot and the tea team test countless combinations in search of the perfect blend, using equal parts passion and creativity. Each tea is hand-blended and designed to showcase the nuanced flavor of the whole leaf tea. Eliot’s team cups, or tastes, over 3,000 teas each year in order to provide the unparalleled quality that Mighty Leaf is known for.
